FAQs
Straight answers about Twentyfive, your Twentyfive Card, Gatekeepers and your data.
The basics
What is Twentyfive?
Twentyfive is a free app for sorting life’s loose ends and telling your story along the way. Pick your songs, write your epitaph, build your bucket list and choose the people who’ll look after it all. It’s part life admin, part life story: the big stuff and the good stuff, all in one place.
Is it really free?
Yes. Twentyfive is free to use, always yours. Some products come from our partners, like wills and insurance, and the price is theirs. We’ll always show you what something costs before you click.
So how do you make money?
Fair question. Later on, we’ll partner with a small number of trusted specialists, such as will writers and insurance brokers. If you choose to use one of them through Twentyfive, they pay us a referral fee. You never pay us, and you never have to use a partner to get the most out of the app.
Who’s it for?
Anyone who’d rather their people didn’t have to guess. Most of our members are somewhere between 28 and 50, but it’s simple enough to sit your gran down and do hers together.
Where can I use it?
Twentyfive is built for the UK, starting with England and Wales. Songs, bucket lists, your epitaph and your Twentyfive Card work wherever you are in the UK. Anything with a legal side, like wills, follows the rules for England and Wales first, and we’ll always say which nations a guide covers.
How old do I need to be?
There’s no age limit for Twentyfive. A few features hold sensitive information, like health details and anything with a legal side, so they’re only available if you’re 18 or over.
Where does the name come from?
Frame 25 is the missing negative in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the one that sends Walter, the notorious daydreamer, off on his adventure. Sort the important stuff once, and you can go and find yours.
Your Twentyfive Card
What’s a Twentyfive Card?
It’s your story on one page: your songs, your bucket list, your epitaph, the places that matter and the people you love. You can share it with anyone, and it grows with you.
Who can see my Twentyfive Card?
Your Twentyfive Card is public by default, like an Instagram or TikTok profile. That means people can find it in Explore, and once you’ve added more than one thing, it can show up in search engines too.
Prefer to keep it close? Make it private any time with one tap. A private card stays out of Explore and search, and only your Connections and Gatekeepers can see it.
You also choose what’s on show. Each section (songs, bucket list, charity and so on) has its own on/off switch. If a section is off, nobody sees it.
Is anything never shown publicly?
Yes. Some things are only ever for your Gatekeepers: will details, power of attorney, executors, financial and property details, and your solicitor’s details. None of that ever appears on your public card.
What’s the difference between Following and Connecting?
Following is one-way. You can follow someone whose card inspires you without needing their OK. A Connection is mutual: you both agree, and these are the people you’d name in your wishes and plans.
Can I stop strangers sending me requests?
Yes. Turn on “Only allow friends of friends to connect”, and only people who already share a Connection with you can send a Connection or Gatekeeper request.
Gatekeepers
What’s a Gatekeeper?
Your Gatekeeper is the person you’d hand your spare keys, your secrets and your playlist to. They’re the people you trust to make sure your story gets told your way.
What can my Gatekeepers see now?
Day to day, they see what your Connections see, plus anything you choose to share with them early, like who your dependants are. Everything else stays locked until it’s needed. Your call, always.
How do I choose one?
Pick someone from your contacts and we’ll help you send them an invite from your own phone. They accept, set up their own free account, and that’s it. They can say no, and you can change your Gatekeepers any time.
Do I have to be someone’s Gatekeeper back?
No. Being someone’s Gatekeeper and having them as yours are two separate things. Neither one depends on the other.
What happens to my Twentyfive Card after I die?
When the time comes, one of your Gatekeepers lets us know. Then the people you chose get everything you left for them, and your Twentyfive Card becomes a lasting memorial: your songs, your stories and your people, kept just as you left them.
Wills and the serious stuff
Does Twentyfive write wills?
Not yet, but it’s coming soon. We’re working with a specialist legal partner so you can sort your will in the same place as everything else. Until then, Twentyfive keeps your wishes, your people and your story together, so when you do write your will, the full picture is already there.
Is what I put in Twentyfive legally binding?
Your songs, bucket list, funeral wishes and other preferences are just that: your wishes. They help the people you love know exactly what you wanted, but they aren’t a will. A will is the legal document that says who gets what, and in England and Wales it has to be signed and witnessed to count.
What’s the Health Score?
A quick check-in on how you’re doing. Answer a few questions (height and weight, how active you are, sleep, diet, stress, smoking, drinking, and any conditions, medication or family medical history) and you’ll get a score from 0 to 100, with a few words on what it means for you. The few words that come with your score are written by AI, so treat them as a guide, not medical advice.
Who sees my Health Score?
Just you, unless you say otherwise. We ask for your clear permission before you answer any health questions. If you ask for an insurance quote, we’ll need to pass your score and some of your answers to our partner. We’ll ask for your permission again, separately, and it’s fine to say no. Health details are only for people aged 18 and over.
What are Funeral Wishes?
Your send-off, your way. Choose burial, cremation or something greener, pick the style of service, the venue, what you’re wearing and anything else that matters, then add your own words. Your Gatekeepers will know exactly what you wanted, so nobody has to guess.
What are Requests?
Anything that doesn’t fit in a box. A particular hymn, a toast, who gets the record collection, or what you’d like done with your ashes. Write it down, and it shows on your Twentyfive Card.
Your data and security
Do you upload my contacts?
No. When you look for friends on Twentyfive, matching happens on your phone. We don’t store your address book on our servers.
Why might you ask me to verify my identity?
Only when it really matters. Most of Twentyfive needs no ID at all. We’ll check your age before you add health details. And we’ll ask for full ID only at the moment something important happens, such as sending will instructions to our legal partner, so nobody else can act in your name. Our verification partner, Didit, handles the check securely.
Do you need my Spotify login?
No. Connecting Spotify is optional and read-only. It just lets you pull in songs you already love. You can disconnect it any time.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, any time, from your settings. Your Twentyfive Card comes down and the link shows a simple “nothing here” page. The only things we keep are the few records the law says we have to, like security logs.
Who’s behind Twentyfive?
Twentyfive is the trading name of Quarter Century Limited, a UK company. Company number: 16652095. ICO registration: ZC271373. Questions about your data? Email privacy@twentyfive.life.
